ROTARY CLUB OF RANCHO BERNARDO
MINUTES OF MEETING FEBRUARY 16, 2012
The meeting was called to order by President Bill at 12:30.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bill Angus
The Invocation was given by Jim Wise
The Scribe was Kathleen Smith
The Greeter was Gary Saks
Introductions of Guests, Jill Casterline and Bob Steuben were made and serenaded.
February Birthdays were recognized and thanks to Belmont Village, everyone had Valentine cupcakes.
Troy Daum gave the Family of Rotary Report.
Charley Crew gave a report on the Foundation Board Meeting.
Investments are doing better. All investments of the club are now under the Foundation.
8 grants were awarded: Music Camp, $3000 for the Dictionary Project, $1000 for Interfaith,
$1000 match for Save San Diego,$1000 to AAUW for the Science and Math Competition, $2000 for the Boy Scouts, and $500 for a table at the RB Community Foundation luncheon, with a total of $9500.
Other discussion items included the approval of scholarship funds, discussion on handling securities and the website Foundation page.
Frances Blair reminded everyone about the boy scout food drive and gave an update on the cookies at Balboa.
John O'Neill gave an update on the progress with the Golf Tournament.
President Bill gave 10 Reasons Why You would NOT Want to contribute to Rotary Foundation, and then announced that we are 2nd in the district for giving, and if everyone gave $10 we would be first.
Fines and Happy Bucks were extracted.
Ed Knight and Dave Brooks gave a stellar report on the trip to Quito, Ecuador.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 pm.
