Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo Meeting Minutes of 2/2/2012
The meeting was called to order by President Bill Angus who announced that we are “The Club that supports Rotary World Understanding through support of The Rotary Foundation”. He thanked Don Lisio for leading the group in the pledge; Bob Barr for presenting the invocation; and, John Hawkins for providing music. President Bill also thanked volunteers Shirley Napierala for being the day’s scribe and Ed Knight for being the greeter for the day. Ed introduced visiting guests and Bill led the group with our “welcome” song.
Bill greeted us with “Happy Groundhog Day!”…and asked that phones and electronic devices be turned off. He continued with his Bull’s Eye comments…February is Rotary world Understanding Month. The purpose behind this month is to emphasize “understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace.” The month also includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary held on 2/2/1905, now designated as World Understanding and Peace Day. One of the strongest ways that we support world understanding is through our participation in International service projects through the financial backing of The Rotary Foundation. All present and past club chairs of The Rotary Foundation were asked to stand and be recognized.
