Meeting was called to order by President Suzie Lisio. The scribe promised President Suzie not to bring up meeting start time, therefore the scribe will reframe from mentioning when the meeting begin and consider it not mentioned the meeting started early today.
President Suzie expressed her appreciation to Mike Sullivan for providing the cake in celebration of Rotary’s 106th birthday.
Volunteers for today’s meeting included: Scribe, John Goodrich;
Pledge, Sherry Collins; Invocation, Charley Crew, who presented a moving story about honking geese and their natural tendencies to work together. Charley suggested if any Rotarians get shot, two other members should peal off and hang with that member until they die or can join the Club again.
Rotary Club’s most famous band conductor, Jack Mitchell was noticeably absent today and thus we missed the weekly song. We are all hoping he is feeling better soon.
Paul Casterline was MIA for introducing the visitors and guest, but Shirley Napierala stepped in and performed the duties. Only one visiting Rotarian was present, David Ebel from Escondido Club and there were three guests. Jim Sommer felt it necessary to introduce Lew Tyler to the Club after his long absence in Australia; you were missed, Lew. The Club second team musical leader, Larry Valente, stepped up to the plate and led the Welcome song.
President Suzie announced Rotary International birthday, and 106 years old only Jim Edwards can remember the beginning. Larry Valente led the Happy Birthday song for Rotary and all the February member birthdays. Cake was passed out to all those present.

Mike Sullivan sweetens our celebration of Rotary International's 106th birthday.
Fine Master extraordinaire John O’Neill was not at his prime today but nonetheless was able to liberate some members of their loose change. All members not wearing their pins were assessed $5; thanks goes to Karen Stelman for this fine, and then John went right into Happy Bucks.
Frances Blair jumped in as auctioneer for a couple items she obtained from Buffalo, NY. A unique, one of a kind, San Diego must ice scrapper was the hot item; winning bidder was Dave Brooks, who also received Buffalo Wings Sauce for his next party. What Dave is going to do with the ice scrapper is anyone's guess, but the story is he has a large walk-in freezer where he sometimes parks his Prius. Bill Angus, in his continued effort to unload his kids Girls Scout Cookies decided on the auction approach. Bidding was fierce for the cookies and the winner was Benita Page, who paid $35 for $20 of cookies. After the meeting club members approached her for some sage financial advice. Bill's girlish figure appreciates the support.
Frances Blair announced the need for members to bring canned food items to the next two Club meetings. The food goes to the Salvation Army to benefit those who are struggling to have food on their table. Major David Ebel from the Salvation Army spoke briefly about how the need is increasing.
President Suzie thanked Kathleen Smith and Larry Valente for organizing the TGIX event at Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Larry suggested people dress as they would when attending a Buddy Holly concert. Everyone is to meet at Phileas Foggs prior to the concert.
The next TGIX is sponsored by Charley and Barbara Crew. There will be dinner at Chin's Chinese Restaurant followed by everyone heading to Charley’s house for dessert and family vacation slide show (bring your own pillow).
The planned program today was for the high school 4-Way Test contest but because the schools did not have any participants, Dave Brooks arranged for four club members to present their "who am I" talks.

The Club learns "Who Am"... Jim Reading, Arilla St. Laurent, Dave Brooks, and Marty Judge.
Meeting was adjourned.
