Meeting was called to order by President Suzie Lisio, to a rousing crowd of Rotarians dying in anticipation for the excitement of another weekly Rotary meeting and listening to our guest speaker.
President Suzie expressed her appreciation to Gary Saks, John Hawkins and Paul Donick for setting the meeting up, without whom we would be sitting on the floor.
The volunteers for today’s meeting included:
Scribe: John Goodrich
Pledge: Pat Kenny
Invocation: Gary Saks
The Club clearly missed Gary Saks always entertaining, but yet appropriate invocation; however he was allowed to slide due to his filling in for Dan Malloy and having insufficient notice to develop his composition. Notwithstanding, he still came through with a griping invocation. Besides, he looked dapper in his "retired" clothes.
Rotary Club’s most famous band conductors, Jack Mitchell was at his prime today leading the Club in song and entertaining (and confusing) instructions on how to sing the selected number. It should be noted the multi-talented, master of trivia, John Hawkins welcomed members as they came in with a cornucopia of songs to add to the fellowship, accompanied by Jack Mitchell’s sweet trumpet. Clearly two John’s do make a right.
Sunshine report was delivered by Don Lisio (who goes by "dear" by some members) announced Jim Reading was back at home and doing well, but still undergoing his chemotherapy. Bill Bonner returned from Scottsdale where he underwent three surgeries and is now back at home. But Bill will be returning to Scottsdale regularly for chemotherapy treatment. The service for Dick Dickerson, Lou Anna Dickerson's husband, will be Sunday, January 16) at 2PM held at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. President Suzie, in her maternal role, contacted Lou Tyler to see if he is affected by the flooding in Australia; she relayed his return message informing the Club he is staying high and dry in the outback.

Ann Calvert is returning to San Diego after her experience in Oregon; the rain finally got to her. She is missing all the young hunks in the Club, but also she has to dry out her webbed fee. If anyone has an extra set of wheels Ann would be most grateful, she can only walk so far with the webs and tough to peddle a bike.
Karen Stelman announced the beginning stages of the Demotion party. First order of business was to decide on a date, and like everything else in Rotary, no decision was conclusive, so Karen will work it out. Preliminary dates are for July 1, 2 or 3.
The upcoming golf tournament was announced by John O;Neill and he was seeking out volunteers to help out. This is the big event so he encouraged everyone to step up in some capacity. The date is April 6 at RB Inn, sign-in at 10:30AM with first start 12:30PM. There will be a lot going on; putting contest, driving range will be open, hosted BBQ, silent auction, award to who can stand on their head the longest, prizes for every par 3 and closes to the pin and much much more. The high school Interact Clubs will be helping out in a big way. There will be a volunteer meeting at Charley Crews house next Tuesday at 6:30PM. Everyone is encouraged to attend if you can figure out how to crack the white house security system.
No sooner than John O'Neill announce the golf tournament but he immediately took on the role of fine master. Bob Wells started with the fines, just because he opened his mouth. Remember, John if our friend, repeat, John is our friend, unless you have a bankroll of Bob Wells. Lynn Ross was going to be fined for not having a pin, but Jeanne Hawkins stepped in and came to her rescue, Jeanne is such a giver. Arilla St. Laurent finally upgraded their household TV’s to color, so she donated the old sets to the Marines with the help of Mike Stelman. And the Bode Miller of the Club, Charlie Crew, went to the doctor and was told to expect continued pain for the next 4 to 6 weeks, and stay off skis, unless you know what you are doing. Finally, Karen Stelman is excited to have her son, who is a pilot in the military, finally being stationed nearby after all these years. The Club expects her to bring him as a guest very soon. Let’s not forget, Ron Hunt took the high road and paid his fines from last week when he forgot his wallet (and drove without his driver’s license).
Our quarterly guest retriever, Carol Corey introduced the Club guest speaker, Dr. Glen Wagner, Chief Medical Examiner for San Diego County.

Meeting program chair Gary Saks and speaker Glenn Wagner, San Diego County Medical Examiner, show the book donated in the speaker's name to Bernardo Heights Middle School library.
Club meeting was concluded with President Suzie ringing the bell.
