Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo Meeting Minutes

October 27, 2011

The meeting was called to order by President Bill Angus who announced that we are the Club that supports the Polio Plus.  Bud Renas led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob Wells gave the invocation.  Bill acknowledged John Hawkins for playing the piano, Benita Page for being scribe and Suzie Lisio for being the day’s greeter.  President Bill called upon Suzie Lisio to introduce visiting Rotarians and guests.

October birthdays were celebrated and the only October celebrant present was Suzie Lisio at 75.

In the Bull’s Eye featured the Global Polio Eradication initiative.  Worldwide Polio Day was October 23.

The Rotary Foundation drive is currently in process and Bill Angus shared his reasons for participating.   He also reminded us that the Centennial District Foundation is November 4 and 5.

A successful Dictionary and Thesaurus Project Label Party was hosted and catered by Arilla St. Laurent on October 21.

Bob Wells sold the last Rotary table seat to the Thanksgiving Luncheon.

We will participate with the MCAS Miramar Club in a Fundraiser Poinsettia Sale initiative where both Miramar and our club can jointly raise funds for our projects.

RB Rotary Happy Hour meeting will be the 1st and 3rd Thursdays 5:30 – 6:30 PM at the URGE Gastro Pod.

Save the Date – our Club Holiday Party will be on Friday evening, December 16, at Bernardo Heights Country Club.

The December 1 Club Annual Meeting wil be at the Ed Brown Senior Center.

John Goodrich was our stand-in Fine Master and was successful in assessing fines and collecting happy bucks.

Bob Wells introduced our speaker, City Councilman Carl DeMaio, who updated us on the latest challenges the San Diego City Council faces.

Next week’s speaker is a Surprise!
