Rancho Bernardo Rotary Student Scholarship Program
The Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club awards scholarships annually to selected students in the community attending one of the local high schools. The scholarships fall into two categories. (1) Scholarships for students at Rancho Bernardo High School and (2) The Opie Scholarship that is available to students at all high schools in the Poway Unified School District.
Scholarships For Students At Rancho Bernardo High School:
Scholarships awarded to students going on to a 4 year college:
- Franklin J. Neuberger Scholarship based on academic merit, school and community service and overall school performance.
Scholarships awarded to students going on to a 4 year college, community college or a trade or technical school:
- Lewis and Margaret Bargar Scholarship based on financial need, school and community service and academic merit.
- RB Rotary Club Scholarships for RBHS students with preference given to RBHS Interact Club students based on school and community service, academic merit and financial need.
- Presidential Freedom Scholarships: These scholarships (limit 2 per high school) - of up to $500.00 each - match funds received by a student for a college scholarship.
Bill and Selma Opie Scholarship Fund
The Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club awards scholarships annually from the OPIE SCHOLARSHIP FUND created by Bill and Selma Opie to a graduating senior from one of the high schools in the Poway Unified School District. The scholarship is based on financial need, school and community service and academic merit. This scholarship also qualifies for the matching
Presidential Freedom Scholarship as described above.
