Witches, vampires and an inspiring story!
We had a lot of scary and not so scary characters at this week's meeting. Some of our members just couldn't let go of the spirit of Halloween and it was evident in our meeting. But the best part of our meeting was by far the speaker. Bernie Mauricia provided an impassioned and educational overview of The Seany Foundation. (www.theseanyfoundation.org) This organization brings joy and normalcy to kids afflicted with cancer. The Seany Foundation operates several camps in Southern California with separate camping sessions for children based on their age and role within the family system. The camps meet the unique needs of each child, both physically and emotionally. Parents going through cancer or those who have lost a child to the disease are also supported at family camps. It is a heartwrenching story, but at the same time very uplifting.
