“A partnership to further international understanding and foster goodwill through long-standing fellowship and international service.”

Rancho Bernardo, Tijuana Rotary clubs become ‘twins’

Francisco Javier Carrillo Mejia, Rotary Club Tijuana Kumiai president, and several fellow Rotarians were recent guests at a Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo dinner meeting. Also present was Mel Gallegos, District 5340 governor.

This was a reciprocal visit after nine Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo members plus two Rotarians each from the Encinitas and Del Mar clubs went to Mexico last summer to visit the Tijuana Kumiai Rotary Club. The purpose was to view current and future projects the Tijuana club and its District 4100 identified as needed.

In addition to prioritizing projects, the Rancho Bernardo and Tijuana clubs decided during their visit in Mexico to become “twin clubs,” in order to establish “a partnership to further international understanding and foster goodwill through long-standing fellowship and international service.”

The gathering in Rancho Bernardo included Carrillo Mejia and RB President Doug Dawson signing a Twin Club Certificate of Recognition. The presidents also presented each other with their respective club’s banner. The Rotarians said they hope this will be the beginning of many collaborative projects.
