Rotarians lend a hand to local students in need
The Salvation Army Escondido Corps Community Center held their annual 'Back 2 School Bash' on August 13th. The goal was to help at least 200, but up to 500 children with backpacks, school supplies, hair cuts, shoes, as well as provide a lunch, activities, booths and other items for the day. Rancho Bernardo Rotarians donated school supplies (3 ring binders, filler paper, pencils and pens, notebooks, dividers, etc.), backpacks, and monetary contributions. Rotarian Larry Saunders delivered the contributions ahead of the event. Dick Norfolk, Paul Donick, Doug and Jess Dawson, Karen and Mike Stelman, Vern and Jeanene Cook, Arilla St Laurent, Benita Page along with Don and Cathy Glover volunteered to distribute school supplies, gift bags, and monitor the play area on August 13. Many additional members of the club donated supplies.
