It was a dark and stormy evening...a perfect time for a heartfelt Valentine's Day party. The Vista room at Bernardo Heights Country Club was decorated beautifully and although we proceeded with some of the business at hand, we were also serenaded and regaled with stories of love, dedication, and devotion. President-elects David and Susan King provided us with an ENTHUSIASTIC report from PETS (they are going to have a great year!!), Jim Reid was given a "Service Above Self" coin by President Doug for his work on the Youth Music Competion and RYLA coordination, and our Foundation presented a grant to Camp Wanna-Cur-A, a camp for kids with Diabetes. After that the festivities began. Sandie Dewayne, Dave Brooks and Jim Sommer collaborated to put on a program that was enjoyed by all. Jim sang some heartfelt love songs after which we were treated to love stories by Alan and Hazel Turner, Sonny Googins, Alex Robertson and a beautiful 'surprise' love poem by Gary Saks for his wife Didi! To top it off we were privileged to have Kaitlen, Miss Teen Rancho Bernardo in attendence passing out flowers and candy with our own Lynn Ross, Pageant Director of the Miss Rancho Bernardo program. It was a great evening which was highly enjoyed by all!
